Project: Share the Love! – Erin’s Story

A little while back on this blog, I created an on-going feature entitled “Project: Share the Love!” and I asked for people to submit their love stories to me.

The idea behind this is that everyone has their own personal love story – whether it be the story of seeing your newborn baby for the first time, or the special bond that you have with a friend or relative, or a romantic story of how you met your significant other. The concept is simple: Love makes us feel good! And when you’re having a bad day, hearing a great love story lifts you up and reminds you that there are great things in the world!

So please sit back and read Erin’s personal Love Story:

“A lot of people are meeting on line now a days… my story is no different… normally I have my facebook account locked up tight as I am a very private person. Apparently one day, it was open for everyone to see!! I didn’t notice, why would I? That night as I went to bed, my cell phone chimed to let me know that there was some activity on my facebook account. It was a friend request. I didn’t recognize the name at all and thought oh well, I’ll just check out the profile tomorrow.

So the next day, I came into work and opened up my Facebook. Normally I would never have accept a friend request from someone I don’t know, however something in me told me that I should accept this one, and so I did. He happened to be online right then and so I messaged him:

- “hi, have we met?”
- “maybe?”
- “no, lol we haven’t met”
- “ok, can we be friends?”
- “sure.”

We ended up talking for the next 3 days ALL day. At the end of the third day, he told me that he would like to meet me in person. In fact, we needed to meet. We decided to meet that Saturday, Nov 13th. He came to my condo and picked me up. We went to Finnegan’s and played pool for a few hours and then went back to my place to watch a movie – he was a PERFECT gentleman. We hugged goodbye and decided that we were going to meet up the next day (Sunday). Monday we hung out again and on the Tuesday, he asked me to be his girlfriend.

We have been inseparable since. He is such a good man, and I have never been treated so well in my life. Love is definitely in the air <3

Project: Share the Love! – My Story

My husband, Adam, and I met during the summer of 2000 after our first year of University. My first impression of Adam was that he was “that skinny, blonde guy” who I kept seeing at every party and get-together that my friends and I went to.

One of the summer “staple” events was “Margarita Mondays” at Earl’s. Adam called me up one night and invited me out for Margaritas. Thinking nothing of it, I said that I would go…since I thought that all of my friends were also going to be there.
When I arrived at the restaurant, Adam was the only one there. I even asked Adam, “Where is everyone?” To which Adam replied, “I couldn’t get a hold of anyone else”.

When I returned home, I called my friend to ask why she didn’t show up for Margarita Monday and was informed that Adam hadn’t called anyone else. In fact, he didn’t even have anyone else’s phone number!

And so Adam had tricked me into going on our first date!

The Proposal (10 years later!):

While on vacation together in Oahu, Hawaii, Adam and I attended a Luau. We dressed up in our finest Island attire (bought at a “Swap Meet” the day before – gotta love those!) and headed down to Paradise Cove to take in the food and entertainment.

At the end of the evening, as the crowds disappeared and the staff began to close down for the night, I wanted to take one last walk on the beach. Unfortunately the beach was roped off. So instead we sat on a nearby picnic table and listened to the waves crash onto the shore.

After sitting and talking together for a few minutes, Adam turned to me and said, “Nina…” and proceeded to drop on his knee in the sand. Adam continued, “…will you marry me?” Now at this exact moment (no word of a lie), a bunch of cute little kittens came out of nowhere and walked around us. (Apparently they wait for the tourists to leave before coming out to pick at the scraps).

I was too busy crying to be able to give a verbal answer, and so I just nodded my head “yes”.

And that’s my Love Story. What’s yours??

Project: Share the Love!

Who doesn’t love a good Love Story? No one! Let’s face it, with all of the worry and stress that we face on a day-to-day basis, we need a feel-good story every now and again.

With that in mind, I would like to try out a new project that I’m calling “Project: Share the Love!” and I need your help (yes, I see you! Don’t hide on me!)

I personally think that the people around us probably have the most cute, amazing Love Stories, but that no one really gets to share them. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come up in conversation very often, does it?

So, here’s what I am asking you to do:

Write out your personal Love Story – it could be the story of how you and the love-of-your-life met, or a proposal story, something romantic that happened to you, or just a wonderful moment where you felt loved by someone (anyone!)
Send it to me at: christina@sweetblissweddings.ca (Don’t forget to include a photo, or you can request to remain anonymous)

See? Easy and painless!

Then I will post your story on the blog.

Now, here’s the best part: Share the Love! Send the link featuring your story out to your friends. Make it your Facebook status. Tweet about it. Anyway you want to do it, do it!

Sharing your personal Love Story not your thing? No problem. But you can still Share the Love! by sharing the link with others in the hopes that they will want to submit their Love Stories.

My personal goal with this is to set aside a moment in our busy, hectic lives to remember that Love is wonderful and that we all experience it. If you believe this as well, I would love for you to help spread the word and Share the Love!
